Immigrant Services @ KEYS is excited to announce this event for our friends and partners in Eastern Ontario. Please join KEYS Job Centre, members of the Employment Ontario Eastern Region Network and community partners for a 1-day Symposium to build capacity to support Syrian Newcomers in our communities. This event will be of interest to both front-line staff and leaders of organizations.

Strengthening Capacity to Support Syrian Newcomers: A one-day symposium featuring speakers and take-home information for members of the Employment Ontario Network, community organizations, private sponsorship groups and others to be prepared to offer effective services to refugees and immigrants.
Including:
  • Keynote Speaker: Naomi Alboim, adjunct professor and Chair of the Policy Forum at the School of Policy Studies at Queen's University and Co-founder of Lifeline Syria
  • Information about: Immigrant & Refugee Settlement, English language assessment & ESL classes, the Canadian immigration system and the Syrian Refugee Resettlement initiative
  • Best practices in employment services for newcomers and cross-cultural communication strategies
